ABOUT US
Lower Broadheath Community Shop Ltd is a Community Benefit Society owned by the residents of Lower Broadheath in Worcestershire.
After the closure of our local shop and Post Office in May 2017, a survey was sent out across the village which showed overwhelming support for the effort to set up a new village shop to be owned and run by the local community.
At a village meeting our committee was elected and work began to register a company. Through working with the Plunkett Foundation and speaking to other local community owned shops we were able to put together a business plan and look at ways to fundraise to help with our initial set up costs. Our Share Sale led to over £39,000 being raised by the local community, and we received a further £20,000 in external grants! Our cabin arrived in November 2018 at our site by The Bell Inn, and our shop officially opened to the public on 4th February 2019!
